Celebrating the Artists & Stories that Inspire Us
Hispanic Heritage Month is the perfect time to spotlight three of the incredible artists behind Jewel — Mia Charro, Tania Garcia, and Cris Villa. Their work brings so much richness and story to what we create.
Mia Charro
Mia Charro grew up in Amorebieta, a small town in Spain’s Basque country, with six siblings and a houseful of cats, surrounded by countryside — a church, fields, trees, gardens, and nearby ruins the family nicknamed “El Castillo.” That rural, story-filled upbringing shaped her love of storytelling, animals, starry skies, and nature, themes that still run through her work today.
Tania Garcia
Tania Garcia is an illustrator and surface pattern designer from Barcelona who works primarily in digital art, often creating on her iPad. Her work draws on a wide range of influences — travel, nature, time with friends, fashion trends, her city’s eclectic character, vintage aesthetics, and everyday life — resulting in a richly varied body of work.
Cris Villa
Cris is a Spanish-born visual artist and designer who splits her time between NYC/NJ and Mallorca. Her work starts as original hand-painted pieces — using acrylics, gouache, and watercolor — giving each one warmth, texture, and a handmade quality. With over 15 years in fashion design, she brings a strong sense of color, composition, and trend awareness to her surface design work, and has created artwork for international brands and independent clients across Europe, Canada, and the USA.
