Hatch Show Print

Hatch Show Print is one of America’s oldest continuously operating letterpress print shops — and one of its most iconic. Founded in Nashville in 1879, the shop has spent nearly 150 years creating handmade posters that document the living history of American entertainment, music, and culture. From early Grand Ole Opry legends to Elvis Presley, from Cab Calloway to Kacey Musgraves, Hatch Show Print’s bold, hand-crafted aesthetic has become synonymous with authenticity, artistry, and Americana. Today, owned and operated by the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the shop continues to design and print 500–700 jobs a year — entirely by hand — while welcoming over 100,000 visitors annually to its home in Nashville.

Its licensing program invites partners to tap into a visual language that is as recognized as it is rare: handmade, historically rooted, and unmistakably American.

About the Brand

Founded in 1879 and part of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum since 1992, Hatch Show Print operates as a working museum dedicated to preservation through production. Every poster is designed and printed in-house  — a practice unchanged since the shop’s founding — using antique wood and metal type and hand-carved imagery accumulated over generations. Its posters have traveled with touring musicians, adorned iconic venues worldwide, and earned a place in the collections of museums, galleries, and devoted fans — giving the brand genuine cultural authority in music, Americana, and artisan craft.

Licensing Program

Design & Production

Each design begins with a hand-drawn sketch, then moves to the typecases, where the designer hand-sets copy from antique wood and metal type and pulls imagery from an ever-growing collection of hand-carved printing blocks — carving new blocks by hand when a project calls for imagery the collection doesn’t yet hold. When a piece is bound for something beyond a letterpress poster or card, the designer builds the digital files needed for production, whether that’s screenprinted tea towels or a deck of playing cards for the United States Playing Card Company, makers of Bicycle Playing Cards.

Every staff member designs and prints letterpress by hand, and brings that same fluency to digital design — carrying the process’s authenticity through to the final product.
