A native of Rochester, NY, Joanna Alberti doesn’t have the strict no-nonsense attitude one would expect of a young woman rated by Business Week as one of the top five entrepreneurs under 25 in 2005. With a bright smile and warm eyes, Alberti seems as whimsical, friendly and fun as her brand’s main character, Sophie.
Before creating philoSophie’s, Joanna worked as an Assistant Media Planner for one of Boston’s leading advertising agencies, Hill Holiday. While there, her responsibilities included developing targeted marketing plans for such companies as Fleet Bank and Dunkin’ Donuts. After juggling two careers at once (a daytime commitment at the agency followed by evenings curled up with her journal and sketchpad), Joanna left the agency to pursue her passion of illustrating life’s best moments.
